The UK is the latest country to experience strikes, following on from the recent industrial action across Germany and other European countries. As with the Central Association of German Seaports (ZDS), the strikes in the UK logistics sector are over wage disagreements amongst soaring inflation.

Northern Ireland has been in limbo between the UK and the EU ever since Brexit, with the small country remaining inside both customs territories. The Northern Ireland Protocol, which governs the region’s customs clearance requirements, was created to keep trade moving and avoid a hard border between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.

However, the Protocol has been subject to criticism due to the complications that it imposes on businesses, which have prevented trade and caused political unrest.

Many companies are struggling with the new GVMS system that went live in the United Kingdom on 1 January 2022.

2021 is running to an end. We are almost a year into Brexit, and a lot has happened since then. An increasing number of companies are getting used to the new situation and can trade between the European Union and the United Kingdom. Still, there are many companies that have no clear picture of what they need to do to successfully trade between the European Union and the United Kingdom.
